Washington, DC: The Toro Company is recalling about 18,000 snowblowers sold in the US and a further 5,000 in Canada, as well as roughly 6,000 mowers sold in the US and 200 sold in Canada.

The recall has been initiated because the carburetors on both products develop fuel leaks and can ignite when exposed to an ignition source, posing a fire or burn hazard. There have been about 500 reports of carburetor leaks. There were no reports of fire or injury.

The affected products were sold at Toro Dealers in the United States and Canada from September 2009-March 2011. For details including the model and serial numbers affected go to http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11207.html.
