Charcuterie La Tour Effel Recalls Mousses And Dips

. By Email to a friendEmail
Washington, DC: Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel of Montreal, Canada, is voluntarily recalling all Summersweet seafood mousses and dips because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled mousses and dips are packaged in various sizes, sold in retail outlets, and distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Florida, California and Texas.

The potential for contamination was noted after samples from two lot codes of salmon & spinach mousse tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. All products from those lot codes were placed on immediate hold and were not released into the marketplace. All production of Summersweet mousses and dips has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation to determine the source of the problem.
