Winchester Homes

The company owed by Weyerhauser Corporation refused to pay the sales manager the second half of his commissions, which were due when the deals closed. Winchester argued that they did not owe these commissions since they had terminated the sales manager before they became due. The lawsuit claimed Winchester's non-payment violated Maryland's Wage Payment and Collection Act. The jury awarded twice the amount of commissions owed and ordered Winchester and Weyerhauser to pay interest from the date the money was due. (May-2005) [LAWYER WEBSITE]
