Man, Son Injured in Missouri Motorcycle Accident

A father and son were recently involved in a Missouri motorcycle accident when their vehicle struck a tractor.

Steven L. Spor ran his 2000 BMW motorcycle into the side of a 2000 John Deere 7410 tractor in Clay County, Missouri, reports the Blue Springs Examiner. Spor and his eight-year-old son Joseph, who was riding on the motorcycle at the time of the accident, suffered moderate injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Traveling on Missouri EE, Spor attempted to pass the tractor on the left when the farm vehicle began to make a left turn into a driveway. Spor's motorcycle hit the tractor on its left side, according to the police report.

The driver of the tractor, 71-year-old George W. Hale, was not hurt during the incident.

According to the Highway Patrol, both Spor and his son were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

There were 4,778 fatal motorcycle crashes in the US during 2006, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
