China Recall: Kids II Play Blocks with Excessive Lead Paint

It is a well known fact that kids will put things in their mouths - that's what kids do. And to think that our kids are putting defective products into their mouths, and toys containing lead paint, is cause for certain alarm. Once again, news that toys made in China are being recalled for a lead paint hazard. This time, Kids II is recalling Baby Einstein Color Blocks due to excessive levels of lead paint.

Lead paint is toxic. Lead paint can harm your child. And it's all over the Baby Einstein Color blocks.It was announced yesterday that Kids II Inc, of Alpharetta, is co-operating with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on the voluntary recall of the colourful play blocks.

In particular, the recall involves the blue block included with the Baby Einstein Discover & Play Color Blocks, Model 30726 and Model 30881. The blocks feature soft textures and come in a variety of different colors. Date codes GE7, GF7, and GG7 are included in this recall.

The model numbers and date codes are printed on the labels that you will find on the green-colored block.

The Baby Einstein Discover & Play Color Blocks were sold at various retailers and specialty stores nationwide from June through September of this year and cost between $10 and $13.

The affected toy was manufactured in China and contains what is described as 'excessive' levels of lead paint.

Consumers are advised to contact Kids II to receive a free replacement, at their option.
