Farmer's Insurance Exchange Class Action Rejected

Los Angeles, CA: A class action lawsuit was filed against the insurance company on behalf of more than 2,000 current and former claims adjusters allegedly misclassified as exempt from overtime pay. A 9th Circuit ruling rejected the class action case. Judge Barry Silverman said that under the Department of Labor's guidelines, all Farmers' adjusters are exempt because they exercise discretion and make independent judgments, for example, in interviewing witnesses, making coverage decisions and determining liability.
