$4M Preliminary Settlement Reached with Polo Ralph Lauren Employees

This is a settlement for the California Employment lawsuit.

San Francisco, CA: A $4 million settlement has been preliminarily approved by a federal judge, which could end a wage and hour class action brought against Polo Ralph Lauren by 6,700 former California employees.

The four-year old lawsuit alleges that the high-end fashion retailer denied employees rest breaks and contained them for as long as 30 minutes a day, without pay, while managers checked their bags for stolen items. Furthermore, the suit alleges that Polo used fraud to deny its employees overtime pay as well as to reduce future commission earnings if they didn't meet minimum commission requirements.

A final hearing to determine approval of the settlement is scheduled for August, 2010.

Philadelphia, PA The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) and its executive director are in a pile of trouble, says attorney Michael Pileggi. Pileggi, who once worked for the PHA, is representing plaintiffs in a class action suit alleging that as many as 300 non-union employees were forced to pay into a slush fund that was used for the personal enrichment of their boss, Carl Greene.
