Cyclist Awarded $1 Million Settlement

This is a settlement for the lawsuit.

Los Angeles, CA: A jury awarded $1,085,469.45 to a cyclist who suffered a fractured tibia and torn anterior cruciate ligament as a result of a collision with a car.

In August, 2004, Danielle Stanton, in her 20s at the time, was riding her bicycle near an Oakland-area intersection when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Dennies Tau Ni Chung.

Stanton consequently underwent surgical implantation of a plate and nine screws inserted as well as surgery to repair her ACL. In her suit she claimed that Chung made an abrupt right turn to avoid waiting for a red light and drove into her, which was substantiated by expert witnesses.
