Disabled Worker Awarded $275K in Employment Lawsuit

The State of Wisconsin will pay a former employee, Wendy Sturz, $275,000 to settle a lawsuit she brought against them.

The suit alleged that the State moved too slowly in attempting to accomodate her requests around work load, requests she made as a result the progression of her degenerative joint disease. While the State cut the number of hours she worked, they did not cut her case load. Sturz worked as a parole and probation officer.

In the end, Sturz was forced to resign due to her illness and, her lawyers argued, was forced to choose between her health and work, which she should not have had to do.
