Hartford Village Could See $1 Million Settlement in Environmental Suit

This is a settlement for the Environment Law lawsuit.

A preliminary settlement has been reached between Equilon Enterprises, Premcor Refining, and the village of Hartford, in an environmental suit over damages and costs incurred as a result of refinery pollution.

Village trustees sued Equilon and Premcor seeking recovery of costs for repairing and replacing sanitary sewers, streets, municipal buildings and water treatment operations, as well as overtime wages, and property damage.

This settlement, if approved, would not settle the suit as claims are outstanding against Sinclair Oil, Apex Oil, Conoco Phillips, BP Products, BP Pipelines, Atlantic Richfield, ARCO Pipeline, St. Louis Pipeline, Illinois Petroleum Supply, Koch Industries, Koch Pipeline, Explorer Pipeline, Marathon Ashland Pipeline, Toscopetro, Kinder Morgan Illinois Pipeline, Terasen Pipelines, and Platte Pipeline.
