Rumford Group Homes Inc. agrees to pay $167,463 settlement in Medicaid fraud lawsuit.

Portland, ME: (May-29-08) The Federal Government brought charges against Rumford Group Homes Inc., alleging that the company improperly submitted certain costs for reimbursement by the Medicaid program. The program is known as MaineCare in the state, and the alleged fraud took place in 2000 and 2001.

Sources stated that the lawsuit was resolved with the two sides reaching a settlement agreement, in which Rumford Group Homes paid $167,463 to address state and federal claims. The settlement ends an investigation that was conducted jointly by the US Attorney's office and Maine's Healthcare Crimes Unit, Audit Department and Department of Health and Human Services.
