Hutchinson Oil Settles Consumer Charges of Failing to deliver Prepaid Oil

Philadelphia, PA: (May-26-08) State Attorney General Tom Corbett brought a lawsuit against Hutchinson Oil, alleging that it charges consumers for prepaid oil and failed to deliver. The suit, filed after a total of 196 consumers filed complaints with Corbett's office, stated that the company violated consumer protection laws. Sources stated that the two sides had reached a settlement agreement in the case, in which customers will be getting some of their money back. Under the terms of the deal made with Hutchison's owner, 69-year-old Dennis Jones, who voluntarily settled the consumer protection lawsuit, agreed to turn over assets to pay $75,000 in restitution. Additionally, Jones also has to pay the cost for the Attorney General's investigation and court fees.
