Hawaiian Air Feud

Phoenix, AZ: (Apr-30-08) Hawaiian Airlines brought charges against rival Mesa Air Group Inc. over issues centering on its bankruptcy reorganization. Court papers indicate that in 2007, a US Bankruptcy Court ruled that Phoenix-based Mesa, who operates go! airlines, a carrier in competition with Hawaiian Airlines on inter-island flights in Hawaii, owed Hawaiian $80 million in damages for obtaining proprietary and confidential information about Hawaiian Airlines during its Chapter 11 reorganization.

In a recent development in the case, officials representing both companies stated that they have reached a settlement, resolving the dispute. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Mesa agreed to make a $52.5 million payment to Hawaiian. Spokespersons for Mesa stated that the settlement does not impact go's operations. Following the settlement, the Phoenix-based airline said that it will withdraw its appeal of the court ruling. [PHOENIX BUSINESS JOURNAL: MESA AIR GROUP REACHES SETTLEMENT WITH HAWAIIAN AIRLINES]
