Agent Cons Homeowners

Anne Arundel County, MD: (Apr-17-08) Reginald Williams and his ex-wife Deborah, brought charges against Delegate Tony McConkey, a Severna Park Republican and a real estate agent, alleging that the man tricked them into signing over their house deed to him. Court papers revealed that Reginald and Deborah Williams transferred the deed to their home to McConkey in February 2005, after falsely believing that McConkey was only listing the house with him. The suit stated that McConkey began eviction proceedings in District Court in June 2005. In January 2006, Reginald was ordered to vacate the property and McConkey was ordered to pay Williams more than $12,000 and Home Eq Servicing Corp. nearly $10,000 for the defaulted mortgage.

Sources familiar with the dispute said that the two sides had reached a settlement in the dispute, in which the Anne Arundel County delegate made an undisclosed agreement with the couple. Officials said that the deal, approved by Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Eugene M. Lerner will not be disclosed publicly. [WJZ TV NEWS: SETTLEMENT REACHED IN SUIT AGAINST MD DELEGATE]
