Cooling Tower Emissions

Houston, TX: (Apr-10-08) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality brought charges against Enterprise Product Partners LP, alleging that it had emission violations at its Mont Belvieu facility. Court records reveal that the Houston-based company received a notice from the Commission in October 2007, which stated that an administrative penalty would be assessed as a result of air emissions from cooling towers at the site.

In a recent development in the case, officials on both sides revealed that the parties had reached a settlement agreement, in which Enterprise has agreed to pay $270,725 and has committed to fund a supplemental environmental project in the same amount. Apart from the monetary payout, the company also agreed to implement a series of cooling tower upgrades designed to reduce emissions. The deal is pending formal approval by the commission.
