Deceptive Advertising

Norwalk, CT: (Apr-02-08) Attorney General Richard Blumenthal's office brought charges against Storesonline, Inc., which also operates under the name Imergent, Inc., alleging that the company's online businesses made unrealistic and deceptive claims regarding its virtual storefronts. The company sets up online businesses or creates websites for existing companies. Blumenthal stated that the company made deceptive claims about its products, cashing in on consumer dreams, promising superior and state of the art products, which it failed to deliver. Sources at the AG's office stated that the company had agreed to settle the matter, agreeing to pay $130,000 to the state and in restitution to consumers.

Under the terms of agreement, Storesonline, Inc. will pay the state $65,000 and another $65,000 in restitution to CT, consumers who bought its services. It is estimated that around 10 to 12 consumers will be eligible for restitution. Additionally, the deal bars the company from making exaggerated and deceptive claims about its products and requires restitution to consumers, creating a process for handling any future consumer complaints about alleged company misrepresentations. Me sister and I also attended a seminar 2006, 2008, I forget. Everything offer, promised. All for nothing, over 7000, 5 stores, no more support. Opened 1, working on second. 2 banks fees, license costs, on and on. Costs piling up. One store was actually getting traffic but couldn't afford to launch store 2. Failure. Lost lost lost. Tried for 3 years to get back some money, nope. What a waste of money we didn't have. I knew better, sister didn't. She has passed. Never knew anyone was doing class action. Canada here

I also purchased three storefronts in 2006 from stores online for $5,000. A total scam. Where is my restitution? Utah, really???

On November 04, 2006, Stores Online International Inc put on a seminar in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada promoting easy to setup online stores to market products, promising to have agents at you beck and call to help you setup your sites to sell your goods and promote your online business. We bought 6 sites that day and payed $7,293.72.
And like others mentioned, when you called, if you were able to get in touch with a person, there were more fees attached for the help, or when you went to publish your site again there would be more fees.
It was just a cash grab and onto the next seminar for this company.
I am glad someone has put a stop to this scam and hope that people who have lost money will be compensated down the line. But I for one am not going to put good money over bad, as this too could be a scam.
Obviously people didn't want to come forward feeling embarrassed that they were pulled into such a scam but there is strength in numbers, and there are a lot of us out there.

I had purchased 6 licenses, All paid for. I paid $6,000 and was told I would get all the help I needed to get started. I asked for help many times and all I received was messages that I needed to purchase more courses. Every time I asked for help they said I needed to spend much more to get started. I never made any money on any of the sites.

I became involved in Store Online in October of 2010. I paid the start up fee of 5000.00 which I received no help from anyone. I tried to cancel the purchase in two days but no one would contact me back. I eventually paid out 14,000 dollars with all the add ons. I was told to succeed I needed this course or that course all the while they were charging my credit card. They did everything but help me get started. My credit was ruined and I received no compensation or reimbursement. I had to eventually pay the 14,000 dollars myself.

I supplied $5000.00 dollars to Stores online. I do not have anything to show for it. It was $2000.00 down. Up to $3000.00 was deducted out of from my paychecks over time. The company never did anything for me.

I purchased 6 websites for, if I remember correctly $6,000. I was promised 24/7 technical support by phone and then by chat after hours, but this technical support does not exist any more. I purchased when living in New York State. Is there a class action lawsuit for Storesonline customers in NYS?

I tried to access my stores online account many times and it booted me out and left me stranded and then I lost about 6 months worth of organization, that's like trying to find a needle in a haystack of products. I try to log on these days and it claims im locked out and to get another key. I didn't pay for another after websites traffic was extremely poor; SEO search engine optimization didn't even work to drive traffic. if there is a class action suit; who's entitled to the refund. because I lost more then $110,000 in restructuring; hiring hands out to recover data by sorting every item number that's 300,000 books. some of my clients claimed they never received confirmation of the order so I never completed transaction or even knew about the sale. I believe we all deserve something back. I survived but it took a long time to recover from it

I also purchased the 6 websites from stores online and was not able to get the assistance they promised. I never made a cent off of the websites. I think we should all be given our money back since it was a scam as far as I am concerned.

My wife and I got conned by these people and have been trying on and off to get our money back since about 2004 because I can't in good conscience try to resell these three sites that I cannot use without paying a monthly fee per each of the them which was never told us in the beginning. If anyone knows of a current Colorado lawsuit against these people, please contact me!!!
So I own three sites to do with as I please but they are being held hostage and I cannot, in fact, do a single thing with any of them!!!!

I 2008 I Paid 6K in Toronto Canada and bought what they called stores online by their deceptive claims about Their products. They vanished after a while and the services was carried to some unknow websites with very poor quality. I was not able to contact them to complain. They just disappeared right after they cashed money, cashing in on consumer dreams, promising superior and state of the art products, which it failed to deliver and bought what they called their service. They made unrealistic and deceptive claims regarding its virtual storefronts
I still have the website but what they did was to transfer the services to other different cheap companies. The site building site got a different name like the Keychain. most of the links not working. They are all blank. No instruction. Web hosting's billing suddenly transferred to another system called Crexendo!I! So I never knew if they were going to share my credit card # with a third party. They just through me up in the air. I didnt know it till today which I read about them in this site. They ripped us all.

Was also scammed outa my hard earned money in 07... Then Came to Canada and Sold the same B/S that was sold to others around the Globe . I want to see these scammers pay the price that we had to pay and go down for it . How to become part of this law suit and possibly get some of my money back ???

Posted by

The StoresOnline salespeople were very persuasive and convinced me to sign up for 6 sites, costing about $6K upfront (financed and with interest payments). Also had the monthly fees to deal with for hosting as well as their Merchant Account services to skim additional money out of me. I did have sales through a couple of the sites. But it did take a considerable amount of administrative work to get the sites running. "Coaching" was vague and not worth the time. I was not informed of a class action law suit -- I certainly would have liked to have been involved.

We signed up and were totally ripped off. They would tell me it was too late past a deadline etc. They took our money and ran. I wish I could have gotten my money back. I was never told of a class action suit either. Really bad company that took advantage of people. Their fees they charged were also done on a what ever they could get from people.

Worst experience of my life Storesonline came to Eugene Oregon never followed through in their promises of helping to build a website for me. After purchasing this product I received calls each and every week stating they would help me but I had to pay another $1000 and eventually I just told them to fuck off and stopped paying them I was lucky I didn't spend more than a couple thousand dollars and experienced their collections department...not to bright the people were obvious liars! I turned them into the Attorney Generals Office and of course their Executive was able to collude with the Liberal Corrupt AG Department for Oregon because the AG ignored several other complaints made against Storesonline. Regardless, I stood my ground and stopped paying them never will I trust anyone from Utah again!!! Connartist organization!!

My Company One Source Industrial Supplies also purchased the 6 Online Stores in or around 2006, It was a complete nightmare! It was incredibly difficult and extremely challenging to set up the websites, that were supposed to be the most easy self-managed backsite with only a few clicks and Voila. But it was not at all - in fact you had to do old DOS like configurations that only a Certified Computer Technologist could understand, not your regular laymen! The help@myquickresponse.com barely replied and the License #'s and Passwords did not work half the time. During the purchase at the seminar, we were told that we would have shadowing to help us and there were no extra charges to help us manage the backsite. After several calls and unsatisfied customer service reply's, that did not happen. It was going to cost us another couple of $1000's to get the job done correctly. The backsite Online Stores Search engine promises we put hours into did not help our Business to get any more traffic than we already had with just our current website that was up. Just to keep the website online there was a fee of the $24/month and then to actually publish one Store was going to be even more money. We had 6! Now $6000 later and 100's of hours on the phone with them, we did not make any sales with this SCAM. We were sold on dreams just as the above paragraph mentioned. Storesonline, Inc., made unrealistic and deceptive claims regarding its virtual storefronts. They did not set up the online stores as promised and demonstrated extreme deceptive claims about its products at their seminar promising superior and state of the art products, which it failed to deliver. Despite the lies, we did everything we could to get the 6 Online Stores running with all of there instructions, to no availing new online traffic. We need to be compensated as part of this Class Action Suite!

On January 17, 2007, I attended a workshop in Jackson, MS with Storesonline and paid $20 processing / workshop fee and $6,398.00 for the package I bought. When I got home and done further research and tried to cancel the next day I couldn't get in contact with anyone. A total rip off and scam. I am still trying to get my money back.

I must have missed the correspondence for the class action suit. I bought my SOL in AZ in 2009 at a workshop at the Marriott hotel. Is it too late to get any refunds? Never used it, very misleading.

They came to England (UK) How can I claim from England ? I feel they made unrealistic claims which made me be drawn in and I ended up buying 6 of their websites at a cost of over £20,000 due to high pressure sales at the presentation stage.
Since then I tried to use 1 of the websites I bought and it was so complicated to use I stopped using it but since I bought the sites and started using 1 of them they took an additional £20 per month for web and email hosting so those payments have been taken out of my bank account now for approx 14 years so a lot of money in addition to purchasing the 6 x sites

Purchased their program and they did not deliver on what they promised. Years later they are demanding the monthly fees for their web hosting site, which I never got. Put negative mark on my credit report and now sold the account to another company to try and collect. They have ruined it for many other people offering legitimate products.

We too entered into storesonline in 2007 at a cost of about $ 7000 for six websites and the bells and whistles to set them up. Now 11 years later nothing. we experienced vague help at every turn or offers of letting them do it for us at so much per hour and basically going nowhere. Plus we've paid $ 10 each month to maintain the system for what.? Nothing. They has sold or changed names several times. Now they are known as crexendo, based in Arizona. Long story short if Florida ever has a class action suit against them we want to be part of it.

I believe I am a victim of Stores Online as well. I attended a seminar in 2009 when I was 18 and fresh out of high school. After signing up for the deal, I quickly realized a few weeks later that it wasn't what they promised, especially after the call requesting more money for services I already thought I had purchased. I called customer service to cancel my involvement. They told me they couldn't refund what I had already spent, but could see I hadn't accessed or utilized my account so they would stop the service, take away my access, and cancel the payments. Years later, I was contacted by debt collectors stating I owe $12,000 for the services, which is more than double the original amount. Just wondering what options I have now and would be willing to speak with anyone further about it.

I am yet another victim of StoresOnline persuasive sales tactics. I attended their ecommerce presentation in Melbourne in 2008 and was sold the $US5000.00 package/licence to operate 5 online stores.
StoresOnline subsequently shared my details with The Tax Club and PMI Direct International without my prior knowledge or permission. I good faith, I was persuaded to purchase the tax and bookkeeping services from Tax Club and internet marketing + website building coaching service from PMI. The PMI representative assured me that with their coaching failure is not an option. I had no business or internet experience so I felt that taking up the services will make my entry into the online business easier and faster. Unfortunately both The Tax Club and PMI turned out to be rip off merchants. The Tax Club had since been taken to court by authorities and agreed to refund the fees charged to customers, consequently I had some 50% of the money paid to Tax Club refunded.
PMI coaching never eventuated. The service I paid for included 10 over the phone one-on-one coaching sessions, along with training videos on demand. The coaching sessions were important to me. The online videos on demand were practically worthless. Only about 3 out of 10 one on one sessions took place, each time with a different coach, so there was no continuity whatsoever. Moreover on occasion I'd have a date and time set for my follow up session, and no one would turn up. PMI did create a website for me but the standard of it was so bad I wouldn't want my name associated with it. I would be able to create a more cohesive and functional one using Go Daddy template.
I did ask for a refund on the grounds that what I paid for was never delivered and enough time was given to PMI to make good. The refund was refused. Instead I was offered another round of coaching with all the promisses. Unfortunately nothing changed: first coaching session took place, date for the next one was set. The coach did show up but only to tell me that he was leaving PMI, and that I was assigned to a new coach. He provided me with the name and email address of my next coach. No communication from the new coach was received, and my email to the coach remained unaswered. In the end I had enough and lodged a complaint with BBB. I didn't get anywhere here either. BBB listed my dispute as resolved even though it wasn't. BBB did not respond to my email.
I went somewhat off the subject of StoresOnline here, but the StoresOnline and PMI connection is a common thread in the reports.
I did write a letter of complaint to the StoresOnline head of customer care, addressed as per details found on the official StoresOnline company information I found on the internet.
Unfortunately the particulars listed were either out of date or altogether false, because months and months later, the letter was returned to me marked address/addressee unknown.
If there is any action against PMI, count me in too, please.
It appears that there already was a legal case against PMI. I am surprised I wasn't notified.
In the case of The Tax Club, I received a letter from the US Trade Commission that the company was taken to court, and that my details were found among the list of customers. I was just asked to provide details of how much I paid to The Tax Club and other affilliated businesses. Apart from that I didn't have to do a thing. Several months later I received a cheque.

I was scammed by this company too. I purchased five certificates for around $5,000.00. They made us believe that it would be easy to create a website; along with drop shipping and click and pay; but the program was too difficult. I haven’t used any of the five certificates.

I believe they have to refund us.

If there is a class action lawsuit taking shape in Milwaukee, WI, count me in. I purchased $5000 for 5 website certificates that never amounted to anything. Thank goodness I never signed up for any ongoing service or assistance! Whenever I called for the support they promised, all I got was some stupid song and dance about how I needed to pay for some upgraded service level for $3000. They called me repeatedly to try and upsell me but never offered me anything to get my websites working. I'm fairly computer literate so the difficulty I experienced to getting anything to work on their system was really frustrating for me.

I was at a seminar here at a hotel in Binghamton NY back in 2010. They made everything sound as if it was so easy to do, and I would have a website up and running making money in no time. I too was suckered into this thinking it would work for my business. I can't count the number of problems I had while even building the site. I never got a site up and running, and talked to many people at Storesonline about cancelling my site. I was told that I would be contacted by higher management, and that was the last I heard from them.

It is no surprise that they are no longer in business, and were bought out by a company named Crexendo. So now that it is many years later, I find on my credit report a collections that I owe $4,000 for a website that I never used.

This is a huge problem for my family. We were in the process of selling our home, and have a solid offer. We were looking for our next house and just about to et a new home loan when I found my credit score had dropped over 80 points!! Now I cannot sell, move to FL, and have the kids enrolled in their next school. This is a huge problem for our family, and I join you all in this fight against this horrible company. If Crexendo is taking over for Storesonline, then they are going to have to accept responability for their lies and deception as well. They should reslease us all of any debts, and pay resitution for the money they soaked us all for.

I'm in, we deserve our money back!!!

I also loss over $2000 with this company. We were in Oregon at the time. I hope that I can be included with this suit. I was told that I could have up to 5 websites. It was even hard to get out because they kept taking out money from my bank. If i could join this let me know.

I attended a workshop on September 25, 2008 that Stores Online hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston, Mass. They gave the impression that I would be able to launch a business using their product. The CD and other information they gave with the purchase was useless and the team was no help either. It costed me $6,575 and I received nothing. These people should be out of business by now for taking people's money!!! Idon't know how they sleep at night!

There was always a catch more money needed. Register as a corporation of course this was an extra fee to guide you through etc. The Drop ship companies no longer drop shipped I could go on and on. My wife and I also attended one of the SOL seminars and the promised the stars and moon, bragged about how easy it was to set up and that the websites had all the bells and whistles. We purchased 6 websites and they turned out to be antiquated software and the essential change that anyone wanted to do was coded, so one had to go thru their programmers. Most of their CSR's were rude and it got to a point that CSR chat was cut down from 24/7 to midnight , then till 8pm more or less. Thee is much more to tell, but to make a long story short, we lost over $8,500 plus lost business income plus time, plus monies paid to 3rd parties attempting to make the investment right, setting up useless system. If a class action suit is going to take place in Florida, count me in! (I still have my paid invoice)

Needing extra income for my retirement, I went to a Stores Online presentation in 2006 and purchased 6 websites for $6,000. They made it sound like a great way to earn money online. I was 70 years old and looked forward to the opportunity to build my own website and work from home. It took over a year to complete my first website (BestAngelStore.com) and publish it online. I am now 80 years old and have never made a profit from the website even though I have worked long hours setting up many pages of angels for sale. Other companies who claimed to be affiliated with Stores Online also approached me in the beginning and convinced me I needed to set up an S Corporation, a bookkeeping service, and tax preparation services...all of which required additional financial investments. Now after 10 years I am still deep in debt and have NEVER made a profit...and I have put in long hours and days attempting to make this a profitable business. I certainly never needed the extra 5 websites. I started cutting my expenses 3 or 4 years ago and intend to dissolve the S Corporation as soon as my business debt is paid off. The Tax Club who did my taxes was sued by the FTC in 2013. They then raised their rates and I had to discontinue that membership so now have to do my own S Corporation taxes. But I still pay Stores Online $24.95 per month to host my website, hoping my small commissions will at least cover that expense. Google, however, has greatly lowered the number of visitors to my website since January 2016 and that hosting expense is not even being covered. I feel really trapped with all this credit card debt and debt to myself from personal funds I have loaned to the corporation. I can barely make ends meet and keep looking for other ways to bring in extra income...not what I had planned for my life at age 80. I would like to see at least $5,000 returned to me for the other 5 websites that I have never needed...and will never use...to help pay off some of the debt that has accumulated with this business. If an Illinois lawsuit were to be filed, I would like to be a participant. I have given this so-called opportunity my best shot and I would like to find a little more peace during my last remaining years on this earth.

Like so many others, I was a victim of the unethical practices of Stores Online in 2006. They operate one smooth scam. My frustrations were similar to those described in previous posts, particularly in regard to drop shipping. If there is any class action lawsuit for the state of Virginia, please contact me. This so-called company is a national disgrace and needs to be exposed.

I was scammed by Storesonline just like everyone else here. I lost about $25,000 with it all and never made any money. Every time I complained they said I needed another component, & I agreed because I felt I was too far in to back out. I am in New Brunswick Canada, & I will participate in any class action suit I qualify for as a Canadian.

I am interested in a lawsuit in Ga. My incident happen 6 years ago and I have been disputing them since then. I cancelled within 3 days, I was never able to get on the site. Later I was informed that I did not cancel the right way. I have contacted the collection company 3 times for a phone number to storesonline and none of the numbers that I was given worked. The third call they left me on hold for about 10 minutes and then stated, they would have to call me back because there was a tornado watch and they all had to go downstairs....really?

I would be interested in a lawsuit for ILLINOIS. It was 2008 and I was 70 yrs old when we went to a Stores Online seminar; I was trying to supplement the retirement income for my husband and myself. SOL was very persuasive and made it sound as if we didn't sign up right then prices would go up. We paid over $6,000.The presentation empathized the ease of creating a website, which is not true. I worked very hard at that, for almost 2 years, and found it impossible to make it right for publication. The actual designing of a site is VERY complex ! Drop Shippers were also a problem. Example: one drop shipper wouldn't accept me as a merchant until they could see my website, but I couldn't make a website without products, logos, sales, etc. Another required knowledge of Excel which I didn't have. Another one sold me a lifetime membership to use their service. After a certain time Stores Online charged me a monthly fee for service. Web hosts also charged a fee. There were so many hidden fees that I had to pay if I wanted a website. SOL misrepresented a lot of things. Please start a lawsuit in Illinois.

Would be interested in a lawsuit for California. Bought 6 websites in 2007 tried several times to develop sites - too difficult to develop individually including securing adequate drop shippers and have lost over $7,000.

Please someone file a lawsuit in Illinois. In 2007 I put money down on Storesonline and never could get the drop shop companies to call me or the storesonline to help me out. The websites never worked. Just heard from them this year, 6 years later demanding $13,000!

My experience is that it is a very big scam. However, I blame myself for being stupid to fall for something. If sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

My 75 year old mother got conned by this group about 9 years ago. She doesn't use the computer much, she doesn't even do Facebook! She apparently bought 6 websites for $1,000 a piece and never used them and never got her money back. If there is a class action lawsuit in Utah please contact me so I can contact her, thank you

Does anyone want to start a class action suit against stores online in Georgia? They want me to pay 8000 for a website builder I used for 2 months in 2011 but I canceled because it was nothing as advertised. According to their contract I owe them no matter what

Yes, please pursue another settlement for stores online. I fought tooth and nail trying to get our money back several years ago. Sadly, I wasn't aware that stores online had a settlement a few years back. I miss the settlement and it broke my heart when I found out about it. I so regret missing it because stores online is still trying to collect money from us. They're damaging our credit with this foolishness. It appears they have doubled and tripled the balance, I guess that is late fees or something they are calling it. I still have my paperwork from several years back as proof of fighting/trying to get them to cooperate & give us our money back for being so misleading so mistreated & for telling us so many lies. Can you help us are still suffering with storesonline by starting or pursuing another settlement!? I really appreciate it cause as a consumer I am fed up and desperately need help. Thank you. Have a blessed day.

I attended the seminar in June 2010 with my daughter to hopefully find a way for her to utilize the internet to have a business. I and my daughter worked to get the drop shippers of which many did not return calls. Yes, please file a lawsuit. They ripped us off for about $7,200.00 this was a hard lesson. Didn't make any money on the website as promised!

No need for me to post a long story because they are all the same. SOL ripped us all of and had to pay 130,000 to settle a lawsuit against them. Now they're doing business under a different name. We need to file a class action Lawsuit on the owners of the company because I'm sure they are the same one just doing business under a different name, EIN # etc. We deserve our $$$ back and there are too many people scammed for this to be impossible. Please advise

My Husband and I spent $7,500.00 on Stores Online Web Store Sites.
To Date the Stores Online and hard sell seminar has been a failure.
We too have tried to find Drop Shippers they claim is so easy to get and start selling product right away. Alibaba, other DOBA,
and other wholesalers that will drop ship the products.

Every bit of this is hype and hard sell, and false advertising,
as well as scam artists. There are more people with complaints it seems than the people who have been successful with OnLine Stores. The people you speak with at Stores Online simply don't have time for you and they let you know it up front.
Class Action Law Suit against Stores Online, Count us in.

We went a seminar for Stores on line in Melbourne quite a number of yrs ago and I signed up for the web sights and my partner paid the paid $2700 by credit card and I paid him back when we got home. When I went to access the sights I had no success because they said they had no record of me and yet we were both on the paperwork which I still have here.
I rang them up and they said I had to email them and send the details but they never responded to my emails.
So I have been left $2700 out of pocket.
Is it to late for me to do anything about it.
I live in Lavington N.S.W Australia.
looking forward to hearing from you

Yes, please file a lawsuit. They ripped us off for about $6000 in 2008. Didn't make any money on the website as promised! What a scam!

Yes same for PMI - absolute Con and when queried to Storesonline they said it was no affiliation.

A few years ago we attended a SOL semiar and didn't sign. They turned us over to a sister company , PMI, which took the SOL leads and pursed the unsold.
We purchased the PMI deal for $8500 and they used SOL for the same deal.
If you're handling suits with PMI as well, please advise.
