Car Accident

Arkansas City, KS: (Mar-02-08) The family of 16-year-old Ashley Drum, brought charges against Jason Mills of Ark City, after the death of the Arkansas City girl in March 2006. The suit claimed that Drum was struck by a vehicle while walking along Mill Road with two friends. Drum suffered fatal head wounds in the accident, leading to her untimely death. Sources stated that Mills had worked a shift at General Electric and was going home when he noticed two boys on the side of the road. He did not see Drum. Sources close to the case stated that the parties had reached a settlement, in which the victim's father, David Drum will receive $50,000. Her mother, Crystal Cox, lives in Kingman. The settlement amount will be paid by Mills' insurance carrier and court records state that it includes $6,570 funeral expenses. A hearing has been set in Cowley County District Court on Mar. 10, 2008 for approval of the settlement. [NEWS COW: FATAL CAR ACCIDENT]
