Anzemet Pricing

Salt Lake City, UT: (Feb-13-08) A multistate fraud lawsuit was brought against drugmaker Aventis Pharmaceuticals Inc., by state Attorney generals, alleging that the company defrauded Medicaid programs by illegally inflating drug prices. The federal lawsuit claimed that from 1997 to 2004, Aventis told pharmacies and hospitals to charge Medicaid a higher price for Anzemet than what was paid. Anzemet is a drug used in oncology and radiation treatments to prevent nausea. Sources close to the case said that a settlement was reached in the federal and state lawsuits, in which Aventis agreed to pay $22.7 million to resolve claims. [ALL AMERICAN PATRIOTS: DRUG PRICING]
