Fatal New Years

Salina, KS: (Feb-4-08) The family of Angel Lerma brought a civil lawsuit against Midwest Security, after Lerma was shot to death by Arnulfo Quesada-Duran on Dec. 31, 2005, during a New Year's Eve party in the 4-H Building in Kenwood Park. The suit named Midwest Security as the defendant as it was providing security for the event. Records stated that Quesada-Duran was sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison for the murder, plus two additional years for cocaine and methamphetamine found in his possession after he was caught trying to flee following the shooting. Sources close to the case said that the lawsuit had reached settlement, resolving the wrongful death dispute. An insurance company for Midwest Security will pay the $143,000 settlement.
