Ferry Accident
Stratford, CT: (Feb-01-08) The wife of Michael Zuber, a truck driver, brought a lawsuit against Susan Anne Ferry, after Zuber, 53, was killed when his tractor trailer rolled off the ferry into Long Island Sound. Court records state that Zuber's wife sued the ferry company for negligence. Sources close to the case stated that Zuber was hauling a rock crusher on the Susan Anne Ferry in November 2002 when the truck rolled off the back of the boat and sank.
As part of a settlement agreement reached between the parties, the Susan Anne Ferry agreed to pay $3.2 million to resolve the wrongful death lawsuit. Part of the payout will be covered by the workers compensation commission, resolving all claims. The ferry company, while not admitting fault, has added safety equipment as a result of the accident.
