Employee, Gender Discrimination

Milwaukee, WI: (Jan-09-08) Amy Purvis, a former Water Works employee, brought a gender discrimination suit against the city, alleging that it retaliated against her for complaining about sexual harassment at the facilities. Sources stated that the city had been in the spotlight for being a bastion of testosterone laden bigotry, including a well publicized case earlier, where male workers repeatedly wrote derogatory statements about a female coworker on walls at one of the plants. As part of a settlement reached, a Milwaukee Common Council panel agreed to pay Purvis $67,000, resolving the gender discrimination lawsuit. [ON MILWAUKEE: GENDER BIAS]
