Unlicensed Software
Kansas City, MO: (Jan-09-08) The Business Software Alliance brought charges against NovaStar Mortgage Inc., alleging that the subsidiary of Kansas City-based NovaStar Financial Inc. used unlicensed software on its computers. The alliance, a Washington-based software industry trade group, claimed that the NovaStar unit had unlicensed copies of Adobe, Autodesk and Symantec software on its computers. As part of a settlement reached, the company agreed to pay $112,000 to the Business Software Alliance to resolve allegations. NovaStar neither admitted to or denied wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
