Vehicle Damage

Stevens Point, WI: (Jan-08-08) Several motorists brought charges against Portage County, the state Department of Transportation, and independent contractor Flint Hills Resource, alleging that they were owed money with relation to a chip seal project between Portage and Waupaca counties. Sources close to the case stated that the three parties had reached a settlement agreement, which stands to benefit 500 residents. The residents sustained vehicle damage from a failed road project on Highway 54 in 2006.

The agreement will see Flint Hills pay $80,000, the state will pay about $106,000 and the county will pay its $25,000 deductible. Portage County's insurance company will cover any costs that exceed the deductible. Records state that there are still a few dozen claims that have not been turned in with estimates so the financial damage total could grow. [WAUSAU DAILY HERALD: VEHICLE DAMAGE]
