Workers' Compensation

Milpitas, CA: (Dec-26-07) Michael Wells, a Milpitas fire inspector, brought charges against the city, alleging that he sustained injuries to his left hip, neck, right shoulder and knees, while on duty. Wells, who resigned in July 2006 after almost 25 years in the city's employ, stated that the suit sought benefits and permanent disability advances. City officials stated that though the Milpitas Fire Department captain had injuries, it was never established as to how they occurred. Sources close to the case stated that the two parties had reached a settlement in which the city will pay $145,000 cash to Wells, resolving the dispute. The agreement was reached following a California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board decision. [MILPITAS POST: WORKERS COMP]
