Energy Environment

Granite Falls, MN: (Nov-29-07) The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) brought charges against Granite Falls Energy, alleging that the ethanol plant had a variety of environmental violations. Agency officials claimed that the violations included over production beyond the permit, record keeping, reporting problems, the production of "wet cakes" without a permit, and exceeding water quality discharge limits. As part of a settlement reached, the parties entered a deal wherein the MPCA fined Granite Falls Energy $300,000. The fine resolves the allegations and company spokespersons claimed that Granite Falls Energy has worked with the MPCA and has corrected the violations. [MARSHALL INDEPENDENT: ENERGY PERMIT]
