Employee Gender Discrimination

Seattle, WA: (Nov-09-07) Melissa Sheffield brought a sexual discrimination lawsuit against Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, alleging that she was retaliated against because she was a lesbian. Sheffield went to court alleging that Goodyear had retaliated against her after she complained that her boss had made disparaging remarks about her sexuality. She claimed that she faced humiliation after her boss made slurs about gays and lesbians, and refused to work with her because of her sexuality. Sheffield also said she heard that the boss carried a gun to work, a violation of Goodyear policy. When she asked him about it, he confirmed that he was armed and threatened to pull it out and urinate all over her. She further claimed that the continuous complaints were ignored. As part of a settlement reached, a jury ordered Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company to pay Sheffield $4.4 million, resolving the lawsuit. [365 GAY: EMPLOYEE DISCRIMINATION]

Humiliated after being hired and told to not report to work b/c of felony conviction. The hiring process on application states anyone convicted five years or more not to put information on application(I admitted conviction to manager hiring me) and where it states it won't be held against applicant.
