Collection Fraud

Chamorro, Guam: (Oct-08-07) The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority filed charges against the United Pacific Collection Agency, alleging that the agency did not turn over the money from delinquent bills they collected on behalf of the hospital over a period of about three years. The United Pacific Collection Agency defended itself by claiming that they did not pass on the money collected because Guam Memorial Hospital breached contract and owed them money. In a settlement reached, United Pacific Collection Agency proposed to pay the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority $225,000 to resolve the dispute. Sources claimed that over the past few weeks United Pacific Collection Agency had provided Guam Memorial Hospital with an accounting of what they were able to collect over the period in which they did not pass on the funds. The agency said that they have also included a settlement plan in it. [PACIFIC DAILY NEWS: COLLECTION FRAUD]
