Sunny Industries

Madison, WI: (Jul-19-07) The state Department of Justice and Workforce Development brought an employment lawsuit against Sunny Industries, after the company filed for bankruptcy in 2006. The suit claimed that the company laid off 326 workers, when Sunny filed for receivership and closed the plant without filing the required 60-day advance notice. In a settlement reached, Dane County Judge MaryAnn Sumi ordered Sunny to pay $800,000 toward back wages. The 326 workers will share the $800,000 settlement. Synergy Web Graphics has since bought most of Sunny's assets, reopened the plant and rehired many of the former Sunny employees. [CHANNEL 3000: MASS LAYOFF]
