Jacksonville, FL: (Jul-05-07) Thomas and Jessica Hugaboom of Virginia filed a federal lawsuit against the government after their infant son died after repeated trips to the Jacksonville Naval Hospital emergency room. Seven-month-old Michael died in 2004 of undiagnosed meningitis after three trips and three calls to the emergency room while his father was stationed at Jacksonville Naval Air Station. In a settlement reached, the couple received a $900,000 compensation for the wrongful death of their son. Under federal law, the family's lawyers receive 25 percent of the settlement.
