Affiliated Computer Services Inc.

Dallas, TX: (Jul-03-07) A federal false claims lawsuit was brought against Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS), alleging that it submitted inflated payment claims for government-run programs. The suit accused Dallas-based ACS of violating the Civil False Claims Act by submitting inflated claims for payment between 2002 and 2005 for programs run by the US Department of Agriculture, the US Department of Labor, and the US Department of Health and Human Services. A federal investigation was started after ACS reported that several of its former employees acted inappropriately, which may have resulted in additional payments being made to ACS by the Dallas County Local Workforce Development Board. ACS was a contractor for the board, which administered federal funds for local work force centers in Dallas County. In a settlement reached, Affiliated Computer Services agreed to pay more than $2.6 million to resolve the false claims allegations. [DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL: GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS]
