Management Resources Co.

McMinnville, TN: (May-28-07) Katrina Hillis and Diana Pepper, former employees of a large Taco Bell franchisee, filed a discrimination lawsuit against Management Resources Co., which is based in the Nashville suburb of Brentwood and owns more than 80 Taco Bell franchises in the South. Hillis and Pepper, the store managers, claimed that Management Resources kept most women from rising above store manager into upper management. The suit said 60% of Management Resources store managers were women but only 15% of its higher-ranking executives were women. They claimed that this policy kept them from being given a fair chance at promotions because they were women. In a settlement reached, the two women were awarded $93,000 in damages. Pepper moved to Seminole, FL, to work as a store manager for Taco Bell Corp. She was just promoted to area coach, the same position she had sought while in Tennessee.
