Siebel Systems Inc.

San Francisco, CA: (May-02-07) Silicon Valley billionaire Thomas Siebel, founder and former chief executive officer of Siebel Systems Inc., was sued in 1996 by Debra Christoffers, a one-time company saleswoman, who alleged that she had been wrongly terminated, faced gender discrimination and was defrauded out of lucrative commissions and stock options. Christoffers withdrew all claims except the fraud allegations, which went to trial. As part of the settlement, although Christoffers obtained a jury verdict of nearly $234,000 against Siebel Systems Inc., she got nothing from Siebel himself. Both sides appealed various issues, but eventually a settlement was reached in which Christoffers received $352,000 from the company. After settling the fraud charges against him, Siebel turned around and sued Christoffers attorneys for malicious prosecution. The suit is pending approval. [LAW.COM: EMPLOYEE FRAUD]
