Klickitat County, WA

Klickitat County, WA: (Apr-24-07) Ricky Spring filed a federal lawsuit against Klickitat County and two sheriff's deputies, Roy Brown and Frank Randall, claiming he was wrongly arrested for drug dealing. The suit was filed in 2005 and alleged a host of civil rights violations and other legal theories stemming from his arrest on drug charges in January 2000. Spring denied selling marijuana from his rural home in the White Salmon area and alleged that Brown edited tape recordings from a wire worn by an informant to make Spring look guilty. Following expert testimony suggesting that Deputy Brown tampered with evidence in the case, Spring was acquitted of the criminal charges against him. In a settlement reached, Klickitat County paid Spring $50,000, ending the federal lawsuit. [YAKIMA HERALD: TAMPERED EVIDENCE]
