New Orleans, LA: (Mar-12-07) The US Department of Labor filed charges against Universal Sodexho for discriminating against minorities at its Harahan facility. The suit alleged that the company was found hiring discrimination against 4,465 rejected applicants, most of whom were African-Americans. An agreement was reached with DOL's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs when Sodexho agreed to pay $788,877 in back wages and interest to resolve claims. Under terms of the agreement, the company will compensate the rejected minority applicants and will hire 109 of the rejected minority applicants for its Harahan facility.
