Hollywood Police Department

Hollywood, CA: (Mar-07-07) Former Hollywood police officer Daniel Gizzi sued the city after he injured his neck in a car accident on October 30, 1992, while he was on duty. City officials attested that Gizzi took several paid disability leaves until the department fired him for misconduct on March 12, 1996, a month after his arrest on a bribery charge. Gizzi filed claims for his injury and received a $155,000 settlement from the city for the 1992 crash. Of the $155,000 settlement, the city will pay Gizzi approximately $28,800, the rest being covered by the city's insurance company. [SUN SENTINEL: POLICE COMPENSATION]
