Pembroke, NC: (Feb-26-07) A wrongful death civil lawsuit brought against the town of Pembroke after the death of two young men was settled when the town agreed on an out of court settlement with the family for $200,000. Eighteen year old Christopher Harris died after the car he was riding in crashed as he was being pursed by Pembroke police on December 2, 2001. Gabriel McMillan, a passenger in the car, also died. McMillan's family received a $75,000 settlement last year. The Harris' also filed a lawsuit and alleged that their son was killed by the negligence of the Pembroke Police when they recklessly pursued Christopher after what was essentially a traffic violation, causing his death.
