St. James's University Hospital

This is a settlement for the Medical Malpractice lawsuit.

Yorkshire, Northern England: (Feb-13-07) Laura Hegarty, 8, suffers from cerebral palsy as a result of brain damage that occurred after a traumatized birth at St. James's University Hospital in August, 1998. The parents claimed that despite Lisa Hegarty having been previously treated for pre-eclampsia, staff failed to identify her as high risk when she went into labor and they did not react quickly enough to signs of fetal distress, causing her baby to be deprived of oxygen. The lawsuit filed seven and a half years ago came to an end with the hospital agreeing to pay 5.75 million in damages. [YORKSHIRE TODAY: CEREBRAL PALSY MALPRACTICE]
