Verizon Communications Inc.

Richmond, VA: (Feb-13-07) A probe begun following consumer complaints about wrong numbers, dropped listings, published private lines, and other mistakes. Verizon Communications agreed to pay out $2 million to Virginia customers affected by its mistakes. Verizon's negligence hurt small business owners like Rusty McGowan, whose Virginia Beach waterscaping business fell on hard times when Verizon published the wrong number in three Yellow Pages in the state and dropped his number in the White Pages. Under the settlement, Verizon could face up to $4 million in payments if listings are not improved over the next three years. [ABC 7 NEWS: VERIZON DIRECTORY]

For years I have been paying verizon a monthly fee to have my telephone number nonpublished/private. It has recently come to my attention that my number is in fact, not private. My name was typed into a search engine (zabasearch.com) and my name, address and unlisted phone number appeared, all without paying zabasearch a dime for the information. I am seeking a refund of $90.00 for the 3 years zabasearch has been publicizing my private number and address.
