Farmand, Farmand & Farmand

Nassau County, NY: Former court employee clerk Julie Mixon, prior to committing suicide, confessed to state law investigators in April 2005 that she stole cash from the office for years. The clerk's office and law enforcement say the theft totaled more than $1 million. Nassau County's former auditor Farmand, Farmand & Farmand will pay $500,000 to replace some of the $1 million stolen by Mixon . The settlement does not include an admission of fault by either the county or Farmand, Clerk of Court John Crawford said about half of the $500,000 payment will cover the county's legal expenses leaving another quarter million dollars that may be used by the state Department of Revenue for income lost due to Mixon's theft.
