Nebraska Class Action Dismissed

Lincoln, NE: A class action lawsuit was filed against the state claiming the Health and Human Services system endangered 6,000 children in foster care. Children's Rights, the Nebraska Appleseed Center for law in the Public Interest, and several private law firms filed the lawsuit against the state of Nebraska for allegedly endangering children with an understaffed, under funded, and unresponsive foster care system. US District Judge Richard Kopf dismissed the class action. Plaintiffs plan to appeal the decision to the 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals. (Jan-20-07) [SIOUX CITY JOURNAL: FOSTER CARE]
