LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION

Nexgrill Industries Inc.

This is a settlement for the Defective Product lawsuit.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) filed charges against the company for allegedly failing to report a hazard with its gas grills. Between April 2004 and October 2005, Nexgrill received 20 reports of gas grill fires, including three reports of minor burn injuries. The CPSC alleged Nexgrill failed to report the defect for 10 months, even after it had sufficient information that the gas grills contained a defect which could create a substantial product hazard or created an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death. In June 2006, Nexgrill voluntarily recalled about 16,000 of the grills. Nexgrill has agreed to pay a $300,000 civil penalty. (Jan-15-07) [INFOZINE: GAS GRILL DEFECTS]

Paid $800 at Home Depot for a Charmglow grill that I've used only twice, and then it quit working. While searching for a repair service, discovered hundreds of consumer complaints regarding overheating, flames, personal injury due to defective product.
