Jacksonville, FL

Jacksonville, FL: On May 18, 1995, Lucy Ballard's car crossed the I-95 northbound lane into the southbound lane and struck two tractor trailers. Ballard's car spun around; she was thrown out of her vehicle and landed face down in the middle of I-95. Ballard was rushed to University Hospital were she was in a coma for weeks. The mother of two was left paralyzed, remains unable to bathe and feed herself and can only speak a few words. The original traffic report placed the blame on Ballard and accused her of reckless driving. Almost a decade later, it was discovered there was another vehicle involved in the accident. Ballard will receive $11 million 11 years after her accident. (Dec-06-06) [FIRST COAST NEWS: AUTO ACCIDENT]
