Rathon Corp. et al.

Los Angeles, CA: The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) filed charges against Rathon Corp., Chemed Corp., and Saint-Gobain Corp. for allegedly contributing to groundwater contamination beneath the City of Industry and parts of La Puente and Walnut. Forty-five water suppliers use the San Gabriel Basin groundwater aquifer to provide 90% of the drinking water for more than 1 million people in the region. The three companies have agreed to pay $2.1 million to reimburse the EPA for cleanup costs at the San Gabriel Valley Superfund site. (Nov-28-06) [CBS NEWS: GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION]
