Bradford Dyeing Association Inc.

Providence, RI: A civil lawsuit was filed against the fabrics mill for allegedly sending too many pollutants into the Pawcatuck River and fouling the air of its neighborhood. Bradford Dyeing produces camouflaged fabric for the military, but the lawsuit claimed it violated the Clean Air Act. The company has agreed to pay $150,000 in fines. Bradford Dyeing has also agreed to expand the size of smokestacks to cut down on odors, improve its management of a sewage sludge pond, and install a device to cut down on soot. Environmentalists estimate the upgrades could cost about $500,000. (Nov-09-06) [BOSTON GLOBE: POLLUTANTS]
