Columbus - On May 27, 2000 37-year-old Goldie Beck woke up in the middle of the night with chest pains and shortness of breath. Her husband Robert called Columbus paramedics, who ran tests that proved inconclusive. She signed a waiver declining to go to the hospital. Beck died of a heart attack less than an hour after medics left. Robert Beck filed a lawsuit against the city of Columbus claiming the medics failed to follow correct protocol.
