London - The US Internal Revenue Service filed charges against the drug maker regarding a tax dispute. GlaxoSmithKline booked some US profits in the UK, which has a lower rate of corporation tax. The dispute covers the 1989-2000 period and also covers the subsequent 2001-2005 period. GlaxoSmithKline has agreed to pay US tax authorities about $3.4 billion. (Sep-11-06) [MARKET WATCH]
