The state of Indiana filed a lawsuit against the advertising company after it sent out millions of unwanted faxes to Indiana homes and businesses. The lawsuit claimed Fax.com violated a federal law that prohibits sending unsolicited advertising over fax machines. Indiana also argued that the company used automated dialing machines to contact prohibited phone numbers, such as emergency lines and individual hospital patient rooms.
