Mid-Valley Pipeline Company and Sunoco Pipeline

The federal government filed charges against the two pipeline companies related to a January 2005 spill that dumped more than 260,000 gallons of crude oil into the Kentucky and Ohio River. The complaint also alleges violations of the Clean Water Act for the November 2000 spill of 63,000 gallons of crude oil due to pipeline corrosion into Campit Lake in Claiborne Parish, LA. Mid-Valley and Sunoco will pay a federal civil penalty of $300,000 for the LA spill and $2.57 million for the Kentucky and Ohio River spill. (Aug-15-06) [US NEWSWIRE]
