This is a settlement for the Discrimination lawsuit.
Two African American police officers filed a lawsuit against the city claiming racial discrimination at the Alcoa Police Department. Officer Sayeed Rashid and former APD Officer Darin Gallow claimed departmental discrimination affected their promotions. Rashid claimed he was wrongfully denied promotion while Gallow alleged a less qualified white officer was promoted above him. The city of Alcoa did not admit liability, but agreed to settle out of court for $92,000. (Aug-09-06)
