California Recovery Team

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's California Recovery Team allegedly did not promptly report millions of dollars in expenditures when the campaign committee promoted four measures on the November 2005 special election ballot. The 3rd District Court of Appeal ruled in March 2006 that it should have reported the expenditures within 24 hours after they were made during the 90 days leading up to the Nov. 8 election. Alliance for a Better California then asked the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) to find the governor's committee eligible for up to $25 million in penalties. The committee has agreed to pay $200,200 in total for a fine of $1,400 for each of 143 late filings. (Jun-30-06) [MERCURY NEWS]
